I feel the same way. You have to admit, though, a 32 or 64 gb SD card or thumb drive, or even built into the BP itself, is quite an exciting prospect. As it is the new BP sounds like a great device, but not worth the price of a new unit; my current one has been through a lot and still works like a charm.
Have a great day, Alex

prices may fall, but they'll have to fall an awful lot before
I'll consider
one. Let's go with the BP2 as it's coming. I don't want to wait
five
years. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alex Parks" <mehgcap@xxxxxxx To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, March 16, 2007 7:05 PM Subject: [bookport] Re: new type of sd card
I have heard that this new type of card, based in a new type of Flash memory, will be quite expensive at first and will be released next year (though as a laptop hard drive substitute and not a media card). It runs, in an article last year at least, at a very high price that escapes me now. A 1.8-inch flash-based HD with this technology was 32gb for, I think, around $6000. I expect the prices to fall, as they always do with electronics, and it is really exciting.
Have a great day, Alex

Hi all. Was looking around on flashmemorystore.com today, and itlooks likea new type of sd card is out, it's called sdhc, I think the hcstands forhigh capasity. These cards will be able to go up to 32 gb. Nowfor the badnews, they are not backward compatible with current sd cards. Iguess nowaph needs to make a decision, do you go with the current sdcards which willmost likely be phased out, or do you hold up the release andsupport the newtype of card. Admitedly, I'm not sure what I would do if thedecision wasmine, probably hold up the release and support the new type ofsd card.Should be interesting to see what happens.
