That might have been the case, But  Pressing "e" did nothing 

Looking to hearing from Tech support, so I can figure what happened.

Hi Barbara and list:

You're unit is in braille input mode. Press escape, which is the E key. 
Bookport will say exit. You will now be out of braille mode. Wait until you
hear the double beep. Now it is safe to remove the card.
