The Acrobat reader version 7 can be downloaded from:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html

It is free. Once installed, open the PDF file, and use alt+f, and save the PDF file as a text document.

You can convert the pdf files to text, and read them.
