hi, If you are using windows media player, it has it's own MP3 ripper on board, though in my opinion, it is not as effective as other pieces of software, it will do the job. If you go to downloads dot com, you can also get audio net deluxe, which will rip MP3 files, but even better, convert audio files not supported by book port to MP3 files to play on the unit. Hope this helps. The Bookport manual leads us to believe that we can transfer music to our unit. Well, here's my dilemma. My granddaughter lent me a book on several audio CDs and I'd like to transfer it to the Bookport. But when I tried to do this using Windows Media Player, sending material directly to the unit as the manual suggests is possible, it transferred the files. But when I went to listen to them, the unit said "Unable to read unfiltered files". Windows Media player transfers files as MP3 files, but not from Audio CDs. Is there any off-the-shelf software that would allow me to "rip" tracks from CDs to the Bookport unit, whether those files be audio text or music? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Grace and Peace, Duane L. Steele
