The new BP is going to use the Doubletalk, too, and perhaps it can't support an exception dictionary. Simply saying that an exception dictionary is an excellent idea isn't enough--we need to know if the overall design, itself, is capable of supporting one. Exception dictionaries are real processor hogs and the BP is a long, long way from your desktop computer in terms of processing power and what's called "throughput." -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gary King Sent: Friday, October 12, 2007 12:38 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Pronounciation dictionary Pamela, Obviously, you can't make changes to pronunciations by modifying the DoubleTalk synthesizer itself; however, that won't prevent the programmers from adding an exception dictionary to the new Book Port 2, would it? An exception dictionary would just change the text strings being sent to the DoubleTalk. I know that the user asking the question was talking about the current Book Port, but I just wanted to clarify that Book Port 2 could have an exception dictionary at some point. Gary King
