The speech was changed once early in the product life cycle. I didn't
notice much of a difference after the change, but you are right! Rolling
back to the previous speech is tough.

Maybe one of the APH technical folks can comment on this one. I'm
temporarily using another BP unit that seems to be considerably older
than
mine and I swear that there's a significant difference in the speech,
despite its having the same firmware on it. Over the life of the BP,
have
there been changes in the Doubletalk voice synthesis? I'm finding the
temporary unit much harder to understand--especially on glottal
sounds--than
the one I'm used to.
