OK, good catch. We are able to duplicate this behavior, so we should be =
able to have a fix soon. =20

One thing: it might help clarify an already fairly confusing situation if =
we can refer to those keys you describe in your message as Up Arrow and =
Down Arrow while talking about editor functions. No big deal, but it =
might help some folks to follow along.

Great idea about silent entry.

Hi listers and APH staff. I'm enjoying playing with the notetaker, and am
impressed with its utility. You guys did a stellar job implimenting the
features requested through the discussions on this list, and are to be
commended!

I've found some odd behavior which could cause some confusion and perhaps
some difficulty for users as they try to use the notetaker function, and
will try to describe the behavior itself, and how to duplicate it, below.
Feel free to seek clarification on any of this as necessary, and you may
call me at 704-996-5334 if live dialog would be in order.

Scenario I

When a new note is opened, or if navigation is attempted in a file which =
was
populated with data but is now empty, pressing the 8 key, then the 0 key
repeatedly, allows you to move past the beginning of your currently open
file and move back into other files, in the notes and other folders, on =
the
flash card. It appears that pressing 8 again will get you back into your
empty file, and that this behavior cannot be duplicated if the file has =
any
data whatsoever, but nonetheless I managed to lock my unit up a couple of
times once I started trying to duplicate this behavior, apparently because
the device was browsing some of the non-text markup files generated by the
transfer software for Book Port's navigation. Should you desire me to do =
so,
I'll gladly provide the contents of my flash card in a zip file for your
trial on your own devices.

Scenario II

This one is proving to be much more difficult to pin down to a specific =
set
of circumstances, but is equally as confusing and frustrating. If I write
some text, move around through it and edit the contents, then perhaps =
empty
the file, I end up seeing evidence of things I wrote earlier in that =
session
and had long deleted and confirmed to be deleted, or even things I'd =
written
and deleted from earlier files. Might be tied to the first problem I
mentioned, but I am having a hard time getting my hands around this one.
I'll answer any questions or comments from anyone on this one, and will
continue to try to duplicate and better work on it.

And, one suggestion, for the notetaker and find features. Any chance of a
silent keys feature? Given that you provided a mighty fine means of =
editing
and reviewing text as it is entered, it'd be great to have the option of
entering data without the device speaking each character entered. I am =
able
to type on the unit faster than the speech can keep up.

Jeremiah
