Sorry, I must be missing something. I have been using Windows for years and use the Tab and Enter keys as my first choice. If Space and Enter don't work for you most of the time, what do you use by default? It is my firmly held view that confusion is caused by the inconsistent way that software developers design their user interfaces. Within a single application like BookPort Transfer, if one button can be activated by hitting the Enter key , all should be able to be activated the same way. I as a user of the software shouldn't have to figure out how to activate the buttons. This is particularly important when you bring reading software into the mix. In my case with JAWS and BookPort Transfer, it might be JAWS that is jerking me around. Who knows! I have found many cases when the "spacebar" is the only key that works and a few cases where the "enter" is the only key that works. However, most of the time either will work for you. I hadn't thought about trying space because the others can be hit with Enter. Thanks. When I go into BookPort Transfer and hit the tab key about 9 times, I come to the Options button, then the Help and About buttons. In order to activate any of these 3 buttons, I have to route the JAWS cursor to them and then click. The Enter key will not do it. How come? Reed
