It has been 100 years since I saw Text Aloud, so I do not know how it compares, but there is a nifty little program for converting text to speech called Dimio. If you go to www.blindcooltech.com <http://www.blindcooltech.com/> and search for Dimio, you can get a demonstration and all the particulars. For an average book, say 300 pages, it may take 30 minutes to do the conversion. _____ From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Rick Harmon Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2007 9:16 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Book port voice quality Yes on your computer. If you have Jaws 8 then likely you also have the real speak voices. These work very well for making mp3's out of your text files with Text Aloud. How can I tell if I have a SAPI voice on the system...by system, do you mean on my computer? Thanks, Nancy girlyscream@xxxxxxxxxxx
