I don't have a clue, but it did. After installing that particular Beta, my Lithiums completely discharged overnight, and I had put fresh ones in that day! Another thing that can make the batteries die quickly is if you have the Bookport in a drawer and something is lying on top of it. Or... keeping it in a purse with something pressing one of the buttons. Just because you have it in the lock position doesn't mean the power is off. If something presses one of the buttons, power is drained. I realize most on list know this, but there may be some who are new to the Bookport who do not.
