Walt,

Sorry, I did forget to specify the /del and /noprogress parms.

I'm not having a problem with specifying the files to send.

When you send a DAISY book, BP Transfer presents you with a Select Audio
Range dialogue asking you to specify the amount of material to send. If you
have enough room on your card, BP shows <end of Book>.
So, if you want to send several books, the batch file is interrupted by BP
Transfer to gather this information from you via this dialogue.
My question is, "Why not have a parm that will allow you to just send what
will fit on the card?".

Does the CD you receive each month contain several subdirectories or are all
of the files contained in a single directory? Knowing the layout of the
files on the CD might help us to give you some further information. It might
even be possible to write a fairly complex batch file; or even a small
application; that would scan the CD for the DAISY files, place their names
and full paths into a batch file that it creates, and add the appropriate
command line parameters.

Here's the information on command line parameters from the manual. There
don't appear to be any others:

Command Line Parameters

The Book Port Transfer software accepts several command line parameters. For
the most part, if you are not a programmer, you may ignore these command
line parameters. If, however, you like to customize your system, these
options provide some powerful capabilities.

The name of the executable program is bp.exe. By default, you find this
program in c:\program files\aph\book port transfer\.

The command line options work like this:

bp.exe <options> file1 file2 ... fileX

File Names

The simplest command line option is to send the file or files specified on
the command line. In this case, the command line would look like this:

bp file.txt

Delete File: /del

The /del command line switch instructs the software to delete the original
file once it gets transferred to the unit. This command line switch applies
to all the files on the command line.

Send to Folder: /bpfolder

The /bpfolder command line parameter lets you send files to a specific
folder on Book Port. You specify the name of the folder by separating it
from the command line parameter by a space. If, for example, you want to
send a file named usnews.txt to a folder named mags, the command line might
look like this:

bp.exe usNews.txt /bpfolder mags

If the folder you name does not exist, Book Port Transfer creates the folder
on the unit, then it puts the files into that folder.

Quiet: /q

The /q command line parameter instructs Book Port Transfer to handle any
errors silently. Normally, if there were an error, the software shows an
error message. You may, however, wish to suppress such error messages.

There is one error that does not get suppressed even with the /q command
line switch. That error is a full condition that prevents the file from
getting sent to the unit.

No Progress: /noprogress

The /noprogress command line switch suppresses the progress dialog. You may
wish to use this command line switch when using Book Port Transfer to send
files to your unit from a batch file.

Subject: [bookport] BP Transfer command line parms

Hi Larry,

Unless I'm missing it, the manual shows /q and /bpfolder and the from
filenames as the parms for the Bp Transfer command line parms. Are there
more?

Each month, I receive a cd with several magazines in daisy format on it.
I'd love to be able to set up a batch file to send all of them to the BP
without intervention.

"C:\Program Files\aph\Book Port Transfer\BP.exe" "D:\magazine01\ncc.html" /q
/bpfolder DaisyBooks
"C:\Program Files\aph\Book Port Transfer\BP.exe" "D:\magazine02\ncc.html" /q
/bpfolder DaisyBooks
"C:\Program Files\aph\Book Port Transfer\BP.exe" "D:\magazine03\ncc.html" /q
/bpfolder DaisyBooks

For each transfer, BP Transfer asks for the range of material to send.
Could we have a command line parm that says send what will fit?
Or, (even with the on screen interface), could we assume that by default we
want to send what will fit?

Reed
