Hi

I've just had some custom braille imprinted jewellery made at a place in Pretoria near the CSIR.

The guy who did the actual job is the cousin of a friend of mine, and he was pretty excited about the whole thing as well...

Basically I went to his workshop, explained to him what I wanted, and made him a dymo tape label with my name on it that he then reckoned he basically stuck on the actual item, drilled holes through the bumps, stuck small pieces of 'wire' through, and sort of soldered/melted them into place.

The actual product is now a sterling silver 'dog-tag' with my name on it. For what it's worth, the braille is almost a bit better/easier than normal braille to read since the bumps almost stick out a little bit more than the standard stuff.

I do plan to have various other things made for some other sighted people with their names, or messages on.

Almost like soon these people won't have to tell me their names - I'll be able to read them... LOL.

Anyway, like I said, the actual jewellery guys were pretty excited as well, and if you want contact details, let me know, and I'll pass their numbers on to you.

Stay well
