Yes, the button is on your TV remote and no you don’t need to buy an HDMI cable
for the Fire stick. You can plug the stick directly into the HDMI port. And, in
the event that there is not enough room for this, my stick came with an
extender cable. Also, depending on your TV hardware you might not even need to
use the TV remote to change input , simply pressing the power ON button on the
Fire remote can switch the input to HDMI.

Is the source button on the firestick or on your TV remote? Right now, on the
X1 button on the Comcast remote, there’s a round button on the far right at the
bottom so I use that to switch to my DVD player and then turn the DVD player
off to get back to the TV.So is this source button you’re talking about? Will I
need an additional HDMI cord to add the fire stick? I haven’t yet purchased it
but I am pretty sure that’s what I want. I’ve heard it’s a lot easier to
install than the Apple TV and I know where I can get a tutorial but just wanted
to hear others thoughts before I buy anything.

We were hoping to be further down the road to cutting the cord
but were side tracked by a failing central air conditioning unit something you
don’t want to have happen during a South Texas Summer. We bought three window
units that work better than the central unit ever did.
Had we been able to get our Fire Stick up and running I would
be in a better position to help you out. I believe we have a few other Fire
Stick users on here who can jump in to the discussion. We plan to have our Fire

We have just purchased some Sony TVs. We are currently using Xfinity and the X1
remote. I’d be interested in knowing how to get the same kind of channels we
like but at a cheaper price. That’s why I subscribed so I might get information
as to what to do since we have changed our TVs. The other ones were old RCA’s
with no USB ports in the back. I would like to know how exactly where you would
connect a fire stick to a TV and exactly where that goes. Then once that is
done, how do you switch back to your regular TV. We got a Comcast rep to
connect my DVD player to the one in the livingroom and this is also the same TV
the fire stick would be connected to. I have not bought the fire stick but it
sounds like something I’d like.

Some folks were asking about Sling TV on another list. I don’t
know much about it myself where its usability by the blind is concerned so
would be interested to hear from Sling TV users concerning these matters.
We ourselves use Fubo TV. Since my wife likes to watch University of Wisconsin
Games this is why we’re using that service. Fubo is very strong in sports
coverage. Any avid sports fans on here are strongly urged to check it out.
We’ve used it with Apple TV and on our Sony TV with the Google Assistant. We
hope to add an Amazon Fire Stick before the holidays so I’ll be interested to
see how well it works with Voice View. Once our Xbox is repaired we’ll give
Fubo a test flight there too and will report our findings to everyone. While
there are accessibility work-arounds for the platform on which you’re running
Fubo TV more consistent accessibility across platforms is a must to improve its
usability by the blind with assistive technology.
