Hi Luis.Nice to have you on the list. I didn't look at what day you sent your
introductory message, but I'm sure it wasn't today or yesterday. I don't check
my email everyday like I once did. In any case, welcome. There are folks on
this list that will be able to provide guidance and information for you which I
cannot provide, largely because these people have even less eyesight than I do.
You and I have already talked about one experiment you can do to learn how to
feel for the doneness of meet, starting with that cast iron skillet and a
couple of steaks. I was just at an awesome place here in Vegas last Saturday
evening called Bass Pro Shops, which is an absolute Paradise for any
Outdoorsman. We looked at various sizes of cast iron skillets, and it occurred
to me that if I could have bought one for you, I would have. It also occurs to
me that you cannot live in Texas and do any sort of cooking, without at least
one well cared for cast iron skillet in your kitchen. You might very well lose
your man card if that is found out. Anyway, welcome to the list, again, and I
look forward to myself and others on the list helping you out as best we
can.JonSent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device

[blindcooks] Introduction Hello fellow blind cooks,My name is Luis Anaya and I
am one of the newest members of this list. I live in the great state of Texas.
My wife, who is cited, does most of the cooking. However, she is a nurse and
sometimes I would like to cook something for myself (and maybe even for her),
but I have been so out of the loop when it comes to cooking that I feel I don’t
really know how to do it.I joined this list to find out more about how people
with visual impairments cook food that is tasty and also not overcooked or
undercooked. I know there are plenty of gadgets that help visually impaired
people in the kitchen, and I am interested in learning more about those. I do
have some vision, but I would definitely like to learn how even completely
blind people know when things are done, and know how to make food taste
great. It is nice to meet you all and I hope to hear from one or more of you
soon. Luis J. Anaya
