Good afternoon everyone,

Since I posted this message I have determined that my sound card is a
Realteck AC97 Audio. The What You Hear equivalent with this sound card is
Stereo Mix which is active. My PC is an HP Pavillian Desktop we bought in
2004 and includes a condenser mic which I must mute some how in order to
record from other sources. The problem now is less about What You
Hear/Stereo Mix, and more about finding the control that mutes this
microphone. Apparrently it functions independently of the Mic setting in
Windows Volume Control. I muted the mic in Volume Control but the on-board
condenser mic remains active despite this. If I unmute the mic in volume
control it's welcome to feedback city. We found a mute button on the
keyboard, but this is a global mute. All sound is muted if this button is
pressed. All I need to do is mute the condenser mic which should then put me
in business. If there are some HP gurus here who have this condenser mic on
their system your help will be very much appreciated. Take care and have a
great day.
