Hi, Ernie,
I hope I spelled your name correctly. Thanks. I appreciate you checking that
out for me. Idon't know if Comcast sells those. I'm not against buying one.
John, my companion thinks they're an un-necessary waste of money. I had a devil
of a time getting him to agree to having his own cell phone. In December of
2015, we were without electric for a few days. The morning following that power
outage, I arrived early to ASB's Christmas party, which turned out to be a good
thing. I promptly went across the street to the Verizon store and bought him a
simple, easy to use cell with speech. I worried about him being home alone with
no way to call for help if anything happened to him. Of course he grumbled
about spending an additional twenty or thirty dollars a month for a phone he
insisted he would never use. I taught him how to deal with basic items.
Fortunately, he finally accepted that his life is worth whatever the extra cost
might be. Now, he's willing to carry it with him when he leaves home,
regardless of with whom he's spending his time. Safety is something one can't
put monetary value on. One of these days, we're going to replace all four land
lines. I believe ILA and Maxi-aids sell phones with talking caller id in them.
Our phone service is no longer with Verizon but Comcast. We made that switch
about two and a half years ago. I don't want to give up the land line, in case
we can't power up the cells. My motto is "Better to have it and not need it,
rather than need it and not have it." I suppose I have a "What if" complex.
That's linked to the writer in me. Take care.
Lillian

I would suggest that you get a talking caller id. It would be worth spending
the money on it in the long run. I will find out where my companion got it
from for me last Christmas, and how much it cost.

Hi, Folks;
I get all manner of ad calls insisting I called certain numbers relating to
medical equipment which I didn't. I have a very strict policy regarding
anyone who doesn't speak the second after I pick up and say hello. I say
"Speak up now or I'm hanging up" Then I hang up if nobody speaks by that
time. I don't have caller id. I would get it but my companion insists it's
not necessary. Anyway, I certainly will report a call like you got if I get
one. Glad it didn't cause you any problems. Take care. .

Good afternoon everyone,
We've received similar calls ourselves. We told them we were going to get
the Texas Attorney General on the line and they can explain it all to
his/her officde. The call abruptly ended.
