There's a new book, The Jacarta Method, which is on Bookshare. I heard
Robert Scheer interviewing its author on Scheer Intelligence and just now, I
listened to a long and informative interview that Glenn Greenwald did with
the author on his You Tube program, System Update. I found it by going to
The Intercept and then going through the links until I got to Greenwald's
name, under which it says something about the CIA. The link is to his name.
The book is about the kinds of interference and coups undertaken by the US
against governments in the 60's and 70's against countries deemed a threat,
purely because they chose to function independently, usually as social
democracies, refusing to bow to US power. The author talks about how the
cold war was based on false premises and describes what secret American
documents say about the real reasons for interference with other countries.
We can assume the same motivations underlie US foreign policy and the lies
that are told to the American people today. To me, it is most infuriating to
hear Russia blamed for the protests erupting in our cities and in many other
places around the world, and to listen to a continuation of lies and
exaggerations about the disturbances in our country being blamed on a
foreign power rather than the inequities in our political and financial
system and the increasing anti China propaganda which can be found almost
everywhere. That's why this book about the past is so relevant to the
present.
