Bob and All Who Love to be Scammed.
Back in the early Fifties I went to a Carnival that had set up stakes
in a local pasture just outside of town. I still remember all of the
excitement, the band music, the clowns cavorting and pinching the
behinds of the pretty young women, and the side show hucksters. You
know the fellows. "They shimmy, they shake, they wiggle and jiggle.
Step right up young fellow and for just one thin little dime, only ten
cents, you will see sights that will make you wanting more." Stuff
like that.
The huckster was speaking to me, an almost 16 year old boy. And he
was pointing to posters that depicted two Egyptian beauties. This
smooth talking fellow told me even more, stuff I can't repeat here,
about just what these Egyptian charmers could do, once I'd paid my
dime and slipped past the tent flap. "Could do", were the operative
words. "Did do", was was almost as embarrassing to me as if they'd
stripped naked and chased me around the tent. For ten cents I was
witness to a couple of women...at least they wore long robes and
veils, who strode onto the stage, shook their tambourines dropped
their long robes and showed themselves dressed in tight fitting sequin
covered bathing suits. They then strutted back across the stage,
wiggled their behinds and disappeared.
And all for "Only one thin dime". Then we were exited through a
doorway at the back of the tent, I later figured this was to help
prevent us from telling the eager, panting young men at the entrance,
all about this nonevent that they were going to receive for their thin
dime.
Over the years between that day and this, I have seen many, many slick
talking Hucksters pedaling just about everything, including ice boxes
to Eskimo's in Alaska. But never, never in all those 67 years between
15 and 82, have I seen one man con a nation. Until now.
Enter Donald J. Trump, better known as "The Trumpster". The
difference between the Trumpster and that slick talking fellow back in
1950 was not in style...both have oil dripping from their lips, but in
degree. The Carnival Carny merely extracted a thin dime from my
pocket, and provided a few harmless minutes of Scam. The Trumpster
has managed to slick talk enough voters, that he catapulted from TV
Reality Huckster, to the Presidency of these United States. Not since
PT Barnum(there's a sucker born every minute), have Americans been so
willingly led down the Primrose Path. And now we will all share
together in what this marvelous con man calls, "Make America Great
Again!!!" Even as congress is dashing about yelling, "The Russians
are coming...the Russians are coming", the Trumpster and his hand
picked Wealthy Cabinet are Privatizing America, moving the hard earned
Americans tax dollars into their own pockets and off-shore accounts.
You can check for lists of the current level of "takeaways", but the
list grows monthly, and few are sounding the alarm. My thought here
is not to bore you with lists, but to suggest that you check it out.
And, unlike the Slick Hucksters, my prattle will cost you nothing.
Not even a thin dime. But still I must once again cry out that we
Working Class Americans are at War with the nation's "Haves", the
Ruling Class. And we currently are losing. Our once strong
defenders, the infamous Democratic Party, flounders and flops like a
fish out of water. And if you choose not to look behind the hollow
platitudes of The Trumpster, and take action, you can be assured that
the cost to you will be much, much more than one thin dime.
Really...Honestly...absolutely...more, much more, and Thank you All
for sitting on your hands and allowing the Rich to get Richer.

This has to be one of the most cynical policies I've ever heard of. Here is
what I predict if this damned thing passes. While the big guys like
Wall-Mart will whine as they feel a little pinch, many of the smaller
retailers that now accept SNAP may decide to leave the program. I think
we've all read articles that describe grocery store ghettos. They are the
same places where many of our poorest residents live. These neighborhoods
have lots of liquor and convenience stores and very few grocery stores. It
doesn't take an Einstein to figure out how this crap will impact these
neighborhoods. Folks who live in such places will find it harder and harder
to use their SNAP benefits.
IF I were a recruiter for ISIS or a similar group, I'd keep this in mind as
I develop my recruiting strategy. Finally, voting turnout in these
neighborhoods is very low so most politicians don't care much about them.
IN
a just nation, the mainstream media should be giving this story much more
airplay. Heck, all they have to do is concentrate a bit less on the Russia
investigation. Yes, that's an important story, but it shouldn't crowd out
stories like this one.
