Considering that we working class(middle) have no dog in this fight,
Senator Murray is about as good as we're going to get. She and our
Junior Senator Maria Cantwell, are the most "Left leaning" candidates
the Two Headed Monster will allow to be serious contenders.
Even Saint Sanders, who was blocked, is about in the same closet as
Cantwell and Murray. And if the congress became filled with similar
politicians, and the billionaires were still running the Empire, then
we would be right back where we were under Carter, Clinton and Obama.
The American People simply have no power in this Federal Government.
The fact is that as hard as we try to believe that there ever were
"good old days" for the working class, there never were. Even though
we(the American People) pushed through some legislation that gave
temporary relief, we never had our hand on the reigns of government.
That control has always belonged to the Oligarchy, the White Land
Owners and their offspring. We, the working class, are tolerated
because someone has to do the dirty work. Digging the ditches,
building the roads, growing and harvesting the crops, dying for the
security of the Oligarchy, guarding the mansions and caring for the
Master's families. Until robots can handle all of these functions, we
will be kept around. But mark my words, if Wall street and Madison
Avenue could replace us with obedient robots, we'd be allowed to
starve to death, just as millions of "Third World" people are now
doing.
While I hear the same comments that you are hearing, since most of us
live in Kansas-like mind sets, there is still a growing rumble
beginning in the distance. Maybe it comes from California, maybe from
South Dakota, but it is growing. What will the folks in Texas do when
they find that the Billionaires they elected to protect them, have no
time or money to give? Just as sure as the American Empire's military
approach to keeping the world peace is actually building huge hatred
for the USA, the billionaires indifference to keeping their campaign
promises is building resentment and disillusionment. That snow ball
has been rolling downhill for some time, growing in size and picking
up speed. I don't pay much attention to the addle brains who have
been raised on the constant propaganda of the Empire. Of course they
will repeat all that they think they know. But when it is their house
that never gets repaired, their crops that rot under water, their jobs
that get shut down, their children who begin hacking and choking from
the "pretty safe" air spewing from the crippled chemical plants, there
will be all Hell to pay. The Oligarchy may be able to stall the
warnings of the climate changers, but they will find that they cannot
stop that rolling snow ball of anger which they denied existed. One
fine day president Donald Trump will look out at the masses of people
gathering before the front door to the White House and say, "Look at
all my loyal subjects, gathering to praise and admire me", and then
the crowd brings out the battering rams...

administration is in power and does harmful things, Democratic senators
don't send out informative emails. The Obama administration favored charter
schools and used federal policy to encourage them. As a matter of fact,
Obama was in favor of them when he was still a state senator in Illinois,
and the reason he gave was, "students should have a choice". But Obama was a
very ambitious guy back when he was a state senator. He was running against
Bobby Rush for the US House of Representatives and he desperately needed
money for that campaign because he wasn't doing well. Governor Cuomo of the
State of New York gets a lot of money from Wall Street donors and he has
been pushing charter schools in New York for years. True, the Democrats
don't sound as stupid about education as DeVoes does, and they're not
pushing vouchers for private religious schools, but charter schools are what
everyone pushes for poor black children.

Believe it or not, it's almost September -- back to school time once again.
And while students, teachers, and parents probably aren't worried about
report cards just yet, we thought someone deserved a report card on her
performance so far: Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
It's been seven months since she was confirmed (after the closest vote in
history for a cabinet secretary), and we know she had big plans for
America's schools -- so before we head into the new school year, let's look
at where we stand.

So we can see that even though Secretary DeVos took on a full course load in
her first semester as Education Secretary, it seems she might not be up for
the task. But because a change in major isn't really something she's looking
for right now, we think she's owed an explanation of her failing grades.

• Education Budgeting 101: Secretary DeVos' proposed education budget
confirms her extreme ideological commitment to public school privatization
-- and it would come at the expense of millions of students around the
country, from preschool to college and beyond. Her proposed budget would
weaken communities by eliminating funding for afterschool programs, grant
aid for struggling college students and teacher and principal training
programs, and so much more.
First Semester Grade: F.
• Education Policy 101: Confusion is the name of the game with Secretary
DeVos and has been since her confirmation hearing -- where she suggested
that guns should be allowed in schools to protect students from things like,
grizzly bears. It seems like she's not entirely sure how to implement the
Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), and she's sending mixed signals to local
superintendents and state education leaders. First Semester Grade: F.
• Civil Rights 101: Secretary DeVos has made it clear through her actions
that she isn't committed to do everything she can to protect all students'
safety and civil rights. From her proposed cuts to the Office for Civil
Rights, to rolling back Title IX protections intended to protect students
from sexual assault, to overturning the rule protecting transgender
students, and so much more -- Secretary DeVos has moved the Department of
Education away from the critical goal of promoting civil rights and student
safety. First Semester Grade: F.
• Writing 101: Given how little she answered in her hearing, many of us have
been sending her letters asking some tough questions about what she is doing
and how she is doing it. But the vast majority of our letters go unanswered!
Either Secretary DeVos doesn't have the answers, or she just doesn't want to
tell us about them in writing. First Semester Grade: Incomplete.
• Principles of Business Management: You would think that even though
Secretary DeVos has no specific education experience of her own, she might
bring some business best practices to the table -- like hiring the right
folks and staffing up quickly. Wrong: She's still the only Department of
Education top-level employee confirmed by the Senate, and she only has two
other nominees waiting for confirmation. First Semester Grade: F.

So many of us are teachers, parents, and students ourselves, and we know how
difficult it can be to make up for a bad first semester. Only time will tell
what's next for Secretary DeVos, but for the sake of our students -- I hope
she turns it around.

By the way, I am a regular listener to the Rachel Madow show and she
is also guilty of over-emphasizing anything that has to do with Trump and
Russia.
IT's way past time that all media sources pay less attention to the
Russia noise and more attention to what Trump and the evil, greedy
bastards in his cabinet are doing to fatten their pockets at the expense
of the rest of us.
