Today I listened to the Mint Cast podcast episode which is previous to the
current one that I talked about yesterday. This one was with an older
investigative journalist and author, Douglas Valentine who has written
several books, one in particular, several years ago, about the CIA. It was
really unsettling and very informative. He talked about an incremental coup
which has been carried on by our security state for the past 70 years, about
the 700,000 retired CIA agents who live among us, whose values differ
greatly from hours, about how we are mostly unaware of the real causes of
our government officials actions. He also described how the CIA has been
secretly influencing and also setting up, certain left wing alternative
media sources, and he described how this can be done with Amy Goodman and
Glenn Greenwald, as possible examples However, he, himself, says that he
has been able to write freely, only because his wife has an MBA, and has
always supported him, I assume both emotionally and financially. They were
both raised in New York City by parents who were Communists in the thirties.
He's very smart, fascinating to listen to.
