Blind people, no matter how intelligent and competent we may be, do not have
true agency in a sighted world. Yes, everyone is interdependent. However, we
are more dependent on others than non disabled sighted people are.
Historically, we have been served because people feel charitable toward us. Now
that society has arrived at this point, we will receive services and
accessibility, only if someone clearly profits from providing services and
accessibility to us. It would be unrealistic to expect blind people, who
because of the nature of their disability and their role in society, to be able
to, as you put ith, have gumption. The Supreme Court ruling on money and what
followed, or what didn't follow, is an example. ACB won the case, but we don't
have accessible money. I haven't noticed any angry press notices from ACB
regarding this.

Miriam,
I'm convinced it will not change as long as we have profit as our bottom line,
rather than people.
Right now it seems to me that there is no "gumption" in blind people...maybe
not in the entire Working Class.
But after a while it will turn around for a few years...

I read part of it. It's depressing and it's no surprise. Lighthouse

everything else?
