Hi all,
Seems we Americans have a weird way of looking at other nations. Seems to me
that we all too often treat a nation based more upon what we think we can get
out of them rather than how they may or may not deserve to be treated.
Let's do a quick and dirty comparative analysis of how we treat two nations
very differently, Cuba and Saudi Arabia.
Since the overthrow of Batista, we have treated Cuba pretty much like a pariah
nation with the exception of Obama who tried to thaw relations. Like any other
nation, Cuba has its warts, especially not dealing well with political dissent
among its peple. Heck, we have better relations now with Viet Nam than we do
with Cuba, go figure.
Now for Saudi Arabia. WE've been kissing up to their backsides since we
discovered oil there despite what I judge to be a horrible government. Even
aftger we no-logner needed their crude, we happily put up with their crude
behavior as we sold them weapons.
IF someone put a gun to my head and told me that I had to make a choice to be
dropped offd either in Saudi Arabia or Cuba, I'd pick Cuba every day of the
week.
