I guess I think he's what you describe, but also more. Yes, I'm sure there's
another one out there somewhere and we'll get him if our society and culture
doesn't change. But he's a particular personality type, an extreme type. The
professionals who wrote that book, which is on BARD, diagnose him as a
"malignant narcissist. Well, maybe that's what he is, or maybe he's a paranoid
schizophrenic who's developing senile dementia. But those businessmen you
describe are just normal sociopaths. They're not a version of Adolph Hitler.
They'll treat the people whom they see as their inferiors like dirt and they'll
manipulate the system so that it favors them. But they won't incite people to
riot and they won't publicly say that racists and anti-semites are very fine
people. They may think that and may privately support them. But they won't in
2019, put their inhumanity on full display.

Agreed, Miriam.
But Donald Trump is just one of the more successful BS 'ers. There are oodles
of Donald Trump clones out there.
With our constant drift toward the Right, and the morphing of Capitalism into
Corporate Capitalism, and the growing numbers of Libertarians...whether they go
under that name or not, we are in the later half of a process that has been
around since the days of the Rugged Individuals who pulled themselves up by
their own bootstraps.
But over the past 70 years it has begun to spiral out of control.
I remember back when I was 14 years old I began going with my dad to gatherings
of business owners, mostly in the Steel and Aluminum fabricating business. I
was there as, "Hey you, boy, bring me another sandwich!" These men were the
forerunners of Donald Trump. They were pushy, mouthy, mean Spirited, back
stabbing, double crossing, male chauvinist pigs of the rankest order. These
men...all White, joked with one another, slapped each other on the back,
praised one another for their clever accomplishments(which I called Business
Theft).
Then, as they drifted toward the parking lot, those left behind began to cut
them to shreds.
And by the way, Dad was there as Staff, not as one of the Good Old Boys.
Some years back, when I first saw Donald Trump on TV, doing an interview for
some new hotel/casino, I told myself that I knew that man. Donald Trump is a
composite of all of those "successful"
businessmen from those late 40's and early 50's.

Carl,
Yes, I agree about the intransigence of the system. However, Donald
Trump has the ability to stir up the worst in people. It's a talent.
That's why the Republicans didn't dump him. They knew he is crazy and
difficult to handle, but they also knew that he'd get them votes.
People like Romney and Pence do not rouse the masses in the way that
Trump does. And although their policies in terms of domestic and
foreign policy might be similar to his, they would not be motivating
domestic terrorists the way he does. Look at it this way. The only
reason this country had a black man as President, is that he appealed
to so many people and the elites knew that they could use him to
accomplish their goals. But he's a different kind of person and the
dynamics of his presidency were different. So although he deported
more people than Trump and he went after whistle blowers and he
assassinated huge numbers of people with drones, including American
citizens, he did not motivate the population to kill each other and he
chose to make his money before and after leaving office. However corrupt the
system is, the manner in which people treat each other is influenced by the
tone set by the President.

Well, if Americans had been involved in our government and its
election process, we would have refused to endorse the 2018 election.
Everything from Gerrymandering to purging voter registrations to out
and out lies.
But as long as money votes, and First Class big money out votes human
Citizens, it won't matter if we dump trump or not. His Trumpsters
have already run wholesale through our Federal Departments, and he is
stacking the courts with judges who will ensure that the average
American has no ability to have his/her day in court.
Remember the song, "Bye, Bye Miss American Pie"? I think he was
singing farewell to our American way of life. And by the way, that
American way of life was not within the reach of a majority of Americans.

I'm having real difficulty understanding why it's so hard for
congress to impeach Trump. Isn't he guilty of inciting the shootings
of people in two synagogues, as well as the illegal imprisonment of
immigrants, the murder of numerous people of color by racists, the
mass shooting at the mosque in New Zealand, and the endangerment of
people in numerous countries by his provocations? Why the debate
over whether or not he attempted to impede Mueller's investigation
when he's been breaking the law by making deals to profit financially
from his presidency while in office? Is everyone in politics and the
mainstream media so corrupt and self interested that they can't just
do what has to be done to stop this mad rush to hell?
