Monday, July 16, Cathy headed to pick up her mother and take her to
the funeral of a cousin. When she arrived at her mother's apartment
she could see at once that her mother was in trouble. Cathy called
911, and within 3 minutes they were coming down the hall. The doctor
held out little hope. Dorothy's brain was still swelling, and he said
she probably would not last 3 days. So on next Monday, one full week
later, we will move Dorothy to a Long Term Care facility in Bremerton.
Cathy and I have served several clients who lived there, and it is a
very nice facility. Of course Dorothy is now out of money. So the
wild dash to make her eligible for SSI is on. Meanwhile, Dorothy is
able to speak some words, but we can't be certain just how aware she
is. She keeps asking, "What happened?" We explain over and over that
she's had a stroke.
Besides spending days at the hospital, we are beginning the process of
cleaning out her two bedroom(over stuffed with stuff)apartment. Just
the paperwork is driving Cathy into a frenzy. Ah, if only we had been
wise enough to have joined the 1%.
So we'll be rather quiet for a time, but don't get your hopes up. I
shall return!
Now...it's off to the hospital and then on to our son's wedding.
Oh yes...we still do have clients to serve.
