Hi scott,
Absolutely the book will still be accepted. It isn't required that scans of
the original images be retained with the submission. When people submit files
other than Openbook and Kurzwell default file formats the images are already
left out. In fact I recommend that you submit books in RTF because they make
it to the site usually a bit faster because there are more people who can
validate them.
So yes go for the 400 dpi if that gets a better scan.

Happy scanning!
Jake

  Subject: [bksvol-discuss] scanning/submission recommendation

  Hi all,

I have been having some difficulties scanning a book. The biggest problem is
that the periods weren't showing up in about 50% of the sentences. I am using
Openbook, which scans at 300 dots per inch by default. I am able to get the
periods to show up if I increase the DPI to 400. However, in Openbook, you
can't use the "keep exact view" option at 400 DPI. For those of you who've
used Openbook to scan books for submission, is it likely that the book will
still be accepted if "keep exact view" is disabled? If Bookshare is still
likely to take the copy, I'd love to scan the book.

  Thanks for your advice,
  Scott Blanks
