If it doesn't default to this folder, then I'd configure it to default there or to default to the folder where you would like to save your books. Since I don't have K-1000 yet, I created a "My EBooks" folder in my "My Documents" folder, and I'm storing my downloaded books in it. I'm also creating subfolders in my "My EBooks" folder for a given author or category of books like John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Miscellaneous, and Reference. You might also want to create a folder for a particular series like the Harry Potter books which are so popular. It's not necessary, but the reason I like to do this is simply to make books easier to find since the list of books in a given folder are much shorter than if you dump all of your books into the same folder. It's especially helpful when you're trying to see which books you already have by a particular author or want to go back and reread a particular series. By creating the folders for a particular author, series, or category in the folder where K-1000 defaults to, then when you open a book, then all of your folders for grouping books are at your fingertips, and you just have to find the folder associated with the author, series, or category you're thinking of, open that folder, then all of the books you'd like to see separetly are in a list by themselves instead of mixed up with another couple hundred books. Having folders for separate authors also makes it easier to find the right book when you've downloaded books with the same title like Clear and Present Danger by Baynard Kendrick, which the llist has been discussing recently, and Clear and Present Danger by Tom Clancy, which is part of Clancy's popular Jack Ryan series. Like I said, creating subfolders in your main folder for your books isn't necessary, but grouping books into smaller groups which makes sense to you can make a book easier to find or make it easier to see which books you already have or would like to add to your personal collection. When I scan books, I save them in the books folder. When Kurzweil 1000 is installed, it creates a folder called Kurzweil 1000 in your "my Documents" folder on your C drive so there is no reason to have to re-save your file unless you are afraid it will be corrupted while your scanning. I wondered once you find a book on bookshare that you want to have, could you tell me some of the folders that you would place them in. I know this is not a bookshare question but I thought I would ask in hopes of getting some answers. Could or should I create the folder off the C drive? I'm a computer user, but a novice at that. Go figure. I use Jaws for my software. Any assistance would be appreciated. I also have K-1000. Thanks so much. Monica
