Hi Ann,
Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't understand or remember or something that you had
already checked in the book. Have you looked at the "check out a book page"
to see if it has been returned there? I just looked for you and it is there
with a Hold for Ann before the title, so you can joyfully go check out the
book again! It's a bit down the page, but if you search you'll find the
book. It's definitely there waiting for you!

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I went back to see if the original
copy was in my checked out books, but it isn't there. After I checked it in,
it went off my checked out list. I got an e-mail from the Bookshare support
team, and was told that it was there, but I can't find it in either the
checked out list or my checked out books. If I can get the original copy of
the book, I would be the happiest person right now. Lol I don't mind going
back and fixing the erros again. They were very minor. However, I don't want
to have to go back, and insert the numbers again.

Hi Ann,
Okay, let's see if I can make this make sense for you. The numbers that
were read were the page numbers printed on the pages of the book itself.
When Word says "page whatever number", it is telling you when it has passed
a page break. A page break is the mark put in by the scanning software to
tell us reading the electronic file where the page in the book ended. You
always want to keep the printed page numbers. You can tell what these are
by using your left and right arrow keys to read each individual number in
the page number. You can't do this in reading a message from Word.
So, and this is what confuses people. Most times page numbering does not
begin on the first page of a book. The preliminary pages of a book are
often not numbered at all. So, When Word tells you it's on page five, but
the printed page number says you're on page 1, it means that there were four
preliminary pages, generally containing a title page, copyright page,
sometimes a blank page or two, and other stuff before the beginning of the
story itself. You need to have the page numbers in the book, so if you
removed them, you'll need to find the first page number that you didn't
remove and insert going backward from there until you reach page 1, even if
that means you have unnumbered pages at the beginning of the book. The
preliminary and so far unnumbered pages need to be labeled/numbered with
lower case Roman numerals starting with i for the very first page until you
find the first page with an arabic number on it, 1, however many preliminary
pages there are.
If you have removed all of the page numbers from the proofread copy of the
book, you can find out where to begin numbering by looking at the file that
you downloaded from Bookshare to begin with that has not been cleaned up at
all. By looking through this original file, you can find the proper page 1,
even if you have to count backward from the first page number that scanned
until you get there. You see, sometimes, single-digit page numbers don't
scan and we have to insert them anyway.
I know that all of this seems very very complicated. I certainly remember
it feeling complicated when I started. If I have been unclear, please ask
questions, and we'll get you on the right track.
If you don't have a copy of the file that you downloaded from Bookshare, you
can get it again by going to the "My Checked Out Books" page and downloading
it again. Just make sure the name of the file doesn't match the one you've
been proofreading in or you'll copy over all of your hard work when you
download the file. I suggest making sure your proofread file has a
different name before downloading another copy of the original scan.
I do know how overwhelming and difficult this seems, but I promise you
you'll figure it out, and we'll all help you!

Let me see if I can explain myself, without confusing you. Before I started
proofing the book, there were two sets of page numbers. One set of page
numbers were from the scanned book, and the other was from Microsoft word.
For example, it would say 1, and then it wold say page 5. Without thinking,
I removed the numbers which were present in the scanned book, and left the
page numbers indicated in the Microsoft word format. I hope that makes
sense. Lol I was told to replace the numbers that were in the scanned book.
Again, I hope this makes sense.

Hi Ann,
Do you want to replace pages of text, or page numbers? If you are talking
about replacing page numbers that you removed, sorry, you'll have to replace
those by hand. If you're talking about blocks of missing text, that's an
entire other story and requires a much more lengthy explanation.
If you can let us know which you need, we can certainly help you out.

I really need some help replacing pages I accidently removed from "Wren To
The Rescue." I don't know why I didn't ask if I should keep them in the
first place. Can someone tell me how to do it, without having to go back
and re-read everything, and to make sure that all the page numbers are in
the right place?
