To expand on Jake's comment, Viji actually works for Benetech as our India Project Manager. She has just been setting up a scanning facility near Chennai, India, that employs people with disabilities to scan books for Bookshare.org, through a local India nonprofit called the Worth Trust. I first met Worth Trust because they make Braille starter kits for teaching Braille, and other Braille-related tools and technology. As many of you know, we don't allow international volunteers because of murky copyright law. But, this relationship with the Worth Trust has been structured to meet our legal requirements, and we think it's a crucial first step for expanding Bookshare.org.in, our efforts to serve people in India with print disabilities. As we often do, we use our existing infrastructure and approaches to try new things. I'm sure Viji as the project manager wants to have the books held so she can do the quality control during this start-up phase. We also aren't yet at the point of doing a big press announcement, but I'm sure we will once this is really rolling. This should increase book additions to our collection significantly.
