Hi, Chris! You might want to re-scan the table of contents pages and change the setting for ignoring or keeping columns. I just got off the plane, and I'm sitting here trying to remember where to tell you to look, but my brain just won't go there. <Smile> As far as those first pages are concerned, you can go to the first page of the actual book, past all the preliminary pages, and set that to Page 1 if it will make the page numbers line up with the ones in the actual book. You could then delete the junk, keeping the pages intact.
