OK, so say I have a book that has pages before page 1. Do I count them
and then work backwards? So if I have 5 pages before I'd label the
first (closest to front of book) "i" and continue up to "v"

But what if I have a book that HAS some pages with roman numerals in
them already but they pages do not get us back to "i"?

If I have a book that only has enough pages to go back to, say, "ii"
What do I do? Just do it like that?

I ask because I recently had a book that did this and--while I did not
want to change the original text--it made the book look as it if began
on page "ii" and I'd maybe made an error, leaving out page "i". There
was not even a flyleaf leftover to label as a [BLANK PAGE]

This is very confusing the way I am typing it. Does anyone understand me? lol
