I doubt anything will be done, but it would be nice if volunteers could be told why it would be good to type in their E-mail addresses in the comments field so that a validator can contact them about their book.

To address the concerns of the privacy obsessed something much more involved would have to be done. It would involve too much work by the web site engineers, so it probably won't happen. the complete solution would be to have a system somewhat like what Ebay does. It has a system set up for sending E-mail to sellers without actually telling you their E-mail address. The person contacting the submitter could remain secret as well by having them fill out an E-mail type form instead of actually having the E-mail sent from their E-mail address as is typically done with those forms.

Is there something that can be done about submissions by "A Bookshare
volunteer"? Couldn't the default be the person's email, and then, if the
person didn't want that, it could be hidden? Otherwise, it's impossible to
reach the submitter.
Take the Edge Chronicles series that I've been validating. I can tell from
the comments that the submitter is a conscientious person, trying to do his
or her best. I'd just like him/her to try one thing different, which could
be helpful. But I can't reach him/her, because he/she is "A Bookshare
volunteer", with no other clue to his/her identity.
I know people like their privacy; so do I, but changing the default, with a
question on the sign-up form about whether or not one wants one's email name
hidden, would help validators a lot, and still let people keep their
identity secret, if that's what they want.
