Two points here. Microsoft is working with those of us who actually know DAISY instead of doing this on their own. So, it's more likely that it will be an OK product. While I share Anne's holehearted enthusiasm for Microsoft, its products, and its past blunders, I'm waiting to see what develops. Kurzweil can Save to DAISY if you wish it to. While I tend to share your view of Microsoft, I like this idea and hope it will work because it will allow us to make, not just read, Daisy files. It is also supposed to allow us to convert pdf files to Daisy format, and I think that could be helpful to a lot of people who don't have programs like Kurzweil or devices like a BrailleNote. I guess I'm hoping for the best while being prepared for the worst. Do you know of a tool that is currently available now that lets individuals make Daisy formatted files? I know that Kurzweil cannot make its own Daisy files. It would be cool to have the ability to make our own. MSWord is known far and wide for generating the sloppiest, the most tag heavy, the most inefficient HTML on God's green earth. I don't hold out any hope that this so-called DAISY generator will do anything but cause monumental frustration and headaches for those who attempt to use it. Friends, stick with the programs that you *know* do DAISY the best. Just because it's Microsoft does not at all mean that it is superior to anything, and it probably isn't! The Cynic
