I agree with you, Pratik. We absolutely MUST have a whole-book manual via whatever means you decide would suit your needs best. I have sacroiliitis, which is lower back pain and stiffness, and this prevents my sitting at the computer for prolonged periods of time. I cannot afford to update my note taker at this time to one that can go on the Internet. Sitting for long periods of time wading through links to find just the thing I need on line is something that I cannot and will not do so that I don't aggravate this back pain. I would suspect that many of our older volunteers have similar ailments that would make prolonged sitting at the computer painful or even impossible. Breaking down print barriers--that's what we do. We must not be hypocrites and make our manual only clumsily accessible to people who want to help continue to break those barriers down. I have seen on your web site many times that "Internet novices" can help with Bookshare. How easy is it for an "Internet novice" to read an on-line manual? Perhaps Bookshare may wish to consider including the manual as an official book, which is replaced in the collection whenever updates to it are made. Those individuals who download either a DAISY or a Braille copy can go and update their version when the update shows up on the recently added books list. The web site cannot be the only method of disseminating the information in the manual. I'll attempt to explain why we are avoiding that route at the moment. The justification to not do that is simply that we intend to update the manual more often with corrections and additions. Having it easily downloadable would probably mean that more people would be reading and sharing their copies that could be outdated. So to ensure everyone gets the most current and correct information we would like everyone to visit the website. Thanks, Jake Brownell
