I did a lot of checking, Anastasia. I checked Amazon,
three different library systems, Project Gutenberg,
the copyright site and the Library of Congress site.

I found Richmond Lattimore translations, but not for
1971. The closest were 1977 (could she have misread
or miswrote the year?); there are also translations by
him in 1951 and 1967, as well as more modern ones.

I think your friend needs to ask her professor again
for the date.

It's too bad she needs that particular translator. The
translations in the bookshare collection, some of
which I think came from PG, would seem to be good. I
love Alexander Pope, and I think his would be a good
one--and I found out that W. H. D. Rouse was a Latin
teacher who got his degrees from Cambridge.

Cindy

P.S. Let me know what you, or your friend, find out.
It's curious that we can't find it anywhere--although
there is one Lattimore translation listed in Amazon
that had no information about it.
