I did something just for the heck of it. I don't read these cheap romances but just downloaded the book by Janet Dailey A Lyon's forgot the rest but the point is it opened up in kurzweil since it was a book someone scanned. So the problem looks like it is in the publisher quality books.

How do you run it? I have windows 7 but windows won't open it so what
program do I use to open it? I have it saved in my download folder.

You are running k1000 12.04, right?

Hi.

You can find a new version of OnlineBooks.dll here:
ftp://ftp.kurzweiledu.com/pub/OnlineBooks.dll

Please download and copy it to your “Program Files\Kurzweil
Educational Systems\Common Files” folder, overwriting the existing
one.
Then manually register it using the Register.exe from your “Program
Files\Kurzweil Educational Systems\Diags” folder. If you have Windows
7 or Vista, please right click Register.exe and choose “Run as
Administrator”.

Now try again in K1000 and see if it makes a difference for
downloading several Bookshare books at one time and hopefully it will
work for you as far as recognizing the brf and daisy types.
Let me know if this solved your dilemma.

I am having the trouble with kurzweil determining the format after
extracting it to the general folder in kurzweil. Kurzweil states that
it's
format could not be determined and after download the book using the
online
feature it states that the system could not open the book so if you don't
mind, please tell me how to install the file and how to use it.

If you're having problems downloading the books from bookshare I have
a DLL file you can use that was sent to me and one other person on
this list from a K1000 staff member, I was able to choose the format I
wanted to read with K1000. Just let me know.

Does anyone have the phone number for bookshare? I would like to call
them
and discuss the problem with kurzweil and the format that kurzweil
doesn’t
find so it won’t read it. I tried the victor soft 2.6 and it works in it
but
don’t like Brian’s voice.
