[bksvol-discuss] Spaces Between Quotes and Punctuation Marks

Does anyone know what causes scanned material to have spaces between quotation
marks and periods, question marks, and exclamation points? I have scanned some
books without this problem, some books with the problem consistently, and some
books with the problem only half the time. Is there a setting that causes this
problem? Is there a faster way to get rid of the spaces than to listen to the
entire book and try to be alert for their occurrence so that they can be edited
out? With the Braille Lite, a simple search and replace would get rid of them
immediately, but this would also ruin the physical structure of the book. Does
anyone have suggestions?
