Hi all,

Well, there are some things that need to be done before sending a book up to be proofed.

First, all running headers need to be removed except for the page numbers.

Second, there need to be page breaks in the file, not section breaks. Some of us old hands at proofing can remove these, but it is helpful if they are changed into page breaks.

Fourth, there has to be a title page.

Fifth, there has to be a copyright page.

Sixth, it is nice if the scanner runs his/her spell checker to remove obvious scanos. Today's OCR software is pretty good, and the hours we used to spend changing torn to Tom and die to the. are long past.

Those are the basics, a good proofer can take care of the rest, but it is truly aggravating when you get a book without page numbers or lacking copyright info. I suspect that is why your scans were rejected. Bookshare cannot accept books without title pages or copyright info.
