Julia,

I think you are mistaken on this, I don't seem to have any problem saving it, at least not one I'm aware of.

I found out how to do this. In the scanning settings dialog, there is
a checkbox called keep exact view. You need to check this box and
save the dialog. To keep this setting, you can then save the setting
as default. Hope this helps.

Hi Kim,

If those settings aren't helpful, e-mail me off list, and we'll see what

Thank you Lynn. I'll give these settings a try. And I did understand
about the find box in MS word. That is what I have been doing, but it's
a
little harder to find where new paragraphs are when there is no
conversation. I was shocked to find that Openbook 8 seems to simply run
everything together.

    Hi Kim,

You might try using the Fine Reader OCR engine. It seems to separate
paragraphs with more uniformity. Also, you might try changing your
settings
to have OpenBook save your documents in RTF format as the default.

Often, OB8 will not separate dialog between two people into separate
paragraphs. You can do this very easily in your RTF document. Open it
using
MS Word. In the find field, type quote space quote. I used the words here
so
that JAWS will pronounce them, but you should use the symbols " "

In the replace field type quote carrot p quote. Again I used the
words,
but use the symbols "^p"

I hope this helps and that I didn't confuse you.

    Blessings.

I recently upgraded from Openbook 7 to Openbook 8. When I saved my
scanned documents in rich text format in Openbook 7 they kept there
formatting. When I save documents in rich text with Openbook 8, the
paragraphs all seem to run together. Is there a setting that I am
missing?
