Hey back at you. I wrote Jim and will let you know his answer. I have a
stack of books and no scanner so I am sending them off to Amber & possibly
Carrie for scanning and will hope to validate some of them. They are almost
all history books @ American Revolutionary people & documents and debates
plus a few others. I don't know if they can be scanned well without
removing their covers and spines which if needs must I may agree to but they
are almost all good hardback or clothbound (and boxed) books. They are no
good if we cannot get all of the words but if I have the original I can make
sure that they are there. However, I won't be able to validate them all but
the original can go with the scan to make sure the words are all there.
Eventually they can come home to mama or some can be traded for other books
to be scanned.

in it as well as the labretto the book could be on Bookshare and I for one

It was not on the video shown on TV as I also taped it from there and was
very disappointed. I am waiting for netflix. Trust Jack Warner to give in
to a complaint from the President with no taste. If you are interested, the
musical (without music) is available in book form with a copy of the final
form of the Declaration with the additions and subtractions included with
different types of brackets (or some kind of marking). Everything from the
major change (the slavery paragraph) to the minor (use of articles like a,
an, the, and both prefixes and suffixes). It is fascinating. I can send it
to be scanned if desired. I can add it to the box of books I am getting
ready to send.

I read about that on IMDB under trivia. According to
that, it was because of Nixon: "President Richard
Nixon was given a private screening of the movie
before its release by his friend Jack L. Warner, the
producer. The song "Cool, Considerate Men" offended
Nixon, so Warner removed it at his request. The song
was restored on the Deluxe Widescreen Presentation
Laserdisc (and was included on the DVD). I'm not sure
if it's on the video I taped from a tv performance or
not. If I see it for sale on DVD I'll buy it.
Also from IMDB trivia: "Large portions of spoken and
sung dialog are taken directly from the letters and
memoirs of the actual participants." That's nice to
know.
