Lissi, I'm proofing *Men of Salt*; it was on the Wish List and scanned by
a book share intern; I haven't gotten very far onto it yet but so far it's
very interesting; the author was intrigued by Africa and what is known as
the Salt caravan, and the T.E. Lawrence books and experience in Africa
and decided to join a salt caravan; so far I've ler aned a lot about
importance of salt n desert and why it has to be carried by men and
camels, and why some camels have one hump and others 2; the book is about
his traveling in teh caravan and living as the nomads do. he writes well
and it's interesting; when I'm finished i hope to return to fiction; and
maybe proof Arthi CHandra's bakery detective series if no one has taken her
books by then

Dear Booksharian friends,
When proofreading I try to get the accents right. I’ve been using the
n any and c cidella for a long time but tonight in one of the books in
the Columbo series I’m proofreading I found an upside down exclamation mark
used several times on a page. I didn’t know what it was called. I described
it to Evan and without knowing what it was he performed his magic and told
me how to make it.
Inverted exclamation *¡*
1. press num lock on
2. hold down alt and type 0161
c cidella
1. press num lock on.
2. hold down alt and type 0231
n any
1. press num lock on
2. hold down alt and type 0241
Presto! A new symbol for my arsenal!
The scanner saw the inverted exclamation as a lower case j. I made the
first mark according to the instructions above. Then I copied it and
whenever I encountered that j before a foreign word, I deleted it and
pasted in the correct mark.
I’m sharing this in case any of you are like me and don’t have the knack
of pulling these symbols out of thin air as Evan and many of you can do. I
hope someone finds it helpful.
