I think Evan is right; I think one time I did have a macro to move page numbers to the top. I had totally forgotten about that since I scan differently now than I did back then. I did post directions on how to make the macro so they should be in the archive. I remember it had to be a series of macros, one for each number.

My memory may be deceiving me on this, but I could swear that Jamie Yates
created and posted here quite some time ago a Word macro that would do that job.
I didn't have a use for it, and I don't use Word much anyway, so I
didn't preserve it. But she was on the list posting recently, so perhaps she
will see this and repost it. That may be what you need to do what you want.
However, it may just insert those page numbers that can't be read outside of
Word, which would make it useless for Bookshare books. I'm sure she would
know the answer to that.

Oh well. Thanks anyway, guys. I really appreciate your responses. I
figure, if there isn't a good solution, at least I know I've tried all
of the alternatives.

Hi Christina,

I don't think that the page numbers that Word inserts for you do
appear in the text. And I haven't found a less cumbersome way of
moving
page numbers from the bottom of pages to the top than what you have
talked
about. Sorry. Maybe someone else knows more.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Inserting Page Numbers in Word

Hi, everyone.
I'm currently scanning a book that has page numbers at the bottom
of the
page. I think this is more difficult when navigating through a book
and I
have to move the numbers to the top for the beginnings of chapters
anyway.
I may as well move all of the numbers to the top so it's less
confusing for
people who will read it.
I can delete all of the page numbers from the bottom of the pages but
I'm
wondering if there's an easier way to both delete the numbers and
to insert
them at the top, rather than doing them all individually.
I'm using JAWS 7.1 and Word 2002.
I know I can select the option to "insert page numbers."
But, when I do
this, JAWS doesn't read them so I'm worried that they
won't appear in the
copy I submit to Bookshare.
Any help/advice?
Christina
