Lissi,

It is control+shift+8 that will show all; it's a toggle.

Dear Mary Ann, Cat Lover Lori Jackie, and Grand Cindy,

I'm ascared!

Control 8 didn't change anything. Maybe I'm supposed to be doing something before I press control 8. I opened another book from my queue and it didn't have those half lollipops jaws calls New Paragraph in a high voice. Only the book I really wanted to finish today has them!

I was going to copy my file as text, but don't know where to put it and just whimped out.

I went to the boxes Jackie talked about and didn't know what to check or uncheck, but I think there was a box for paragraph markers and it was not checked, so why do I have the markers. Now I think maybe I should have highlighted the whole mess before pressing control 8. I just don't know. Now that I see the Sweet Valley Twins Book I have isn't messed up, I'll work on that, or on this wonderful biography of Jane Austin which I just got in print from the library today so can finally start.

If Evan wasn't off covering the Amusement parks and fireworks circuits in Pennsylvania he would either help me or council patience and convince me again that computers are wonderful and are getting better all of the time and that I'm not as computer impaired as I think I am. He is so right about a lot of things, but in his denial that I'm computer impaired. I do have a bad case of that.

I'm off to gratefully take Jackie up on her offer of help, though I think discovering why my computer acts out is a lost cause. I don't even know where that brightness preference thing is so I could tell it not to look so dark and dismal as if it is having a personal brown out! Whoa is me!

I do have a plan for chilling. I have a hard copy of the fourth book in the Mitford series from the
Wisconsin braille volunteers.

They are also selling Gateway Computers all day on Home Shoppers tomorrow. I'll buy a laptop which I want because I'd love to validate on my backyard swing or hammock, or couch or anywhere that isn't my office chair. But how would I ever learn Vista and Word 2007? I can already see me using the 30 day return option and swearing to keep my current computer working for the next 50 years!!

Always with love,

Lissi

Lissi, when I get a bunch of junk like that I'd consider saving the file as TXT. First though, you want to replace your page breaks with something like
qqq so that when you reconvert again, you can have the qqq where the page
breaks used to be. then, save as txt. Then, close the file. Go to Windows
Explorer, find your txt document and right click. use the open with and
choose word as the program to open the file. Now that you are in word
again, replace the qqq with the page break. I usually replace with
^p^p^m^p^p which will put a few blank lines before and after the page
breaks. Don't forget to back up your original file before doing any of this
so that you have it, just in case something goes wrong.

You should have your page breaks back now and can save as RTF. I hope this
helps.
