I have had issues with Kurzweil adding a ton of blank lines into my files rather than deleting them. For instance, I'll go into the file, delete all blank lines, save it, and then do my editing with the Pac Mate. When I go back into Kurzweil to rescan certain pages, the blank lines reappear. Since that happened with a book I just finished working on, I have decided just to make a backup copy in case something stupid like that occurs again. -Alyssa -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mayrie ReNae Sent: Wednesday, April 22, 2009 1:25 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Extra pages, etc., in Kurzweil Hi Mary, You can always open the file and immediately save it as a kes file, do all of your work on the kes file, and only convert to rtf when you are ready to upload to bookshare. This may help. Ann, I have just gone through the same thing you described with Kurzweil. I finally released the book, checked it out again; then went through the entire book (after doing everything Mairie suggested);checked that I had started out with the correct number of pages; then went through the whole book without once saving it; ended up with the right number of pages; then just had the book rejected because of too many page breaks, none of which I had put in. It's an excellent book--"By Trust Betrayed"--and should be in the collection. I don't know a thing about word, so that's not an option. Frustrating!!!
