Dear Dilsia,

Calgary is weird and illogical. References in parenthesis or as footnote #s only confuse when within the elipsis and quotation marks. If you must include it within the quotation marks it makes more sense to do so after the last period. First and formost punctuation must make sense to the reader - he has to understand what you mean. That number before the last quotations just doesn't make sense. If I cannot figure it out and if you cannot figure it out how will any less practiced read understand it. This "stuff" is meant for freshmen in college or even high school students to be able to read. That's why we teach research paper writing in those classes.
