My daughter's roommate buys lots of stuff on E-Bay (and, I think, sells) and has had no problem, but I recently saw, on one of the "judge" shows I watch when I iron (yes, I'm one of those rare people who still irons), a man suing a seller because he didn't get what was advertised -- what the product was supposed to be, or the shape it wa supposed to be in. He'd checked the seller's rating and it supposedly was good, but it turns out, when the plaintiff did some research, that this seller has scammed other buyers, too. Apparently he'd found a way he could change his E-Bay identity and so any bad comments he'd gotten from people didn't show up -- or else a lot of people don't bother to "ding" when they've been scammed. I'm not sure what PayPal is, but if it's a sort of escrow thing like the plate company has (I can't remember the name but I was trying to sell the plates my deceased father had bought over the years), I'd go that way. I know that E-Bay has something like that, and I'd say the security would be worth the extra fee. You put in your order and send E-Bay the money to hold and don't give them authority to release the money until you have the item and are satisfied with it.
