Book Jacket summaries are below.

Buffalo (World Life Library)
From the Book Jacket:
In the 1800s millions of buffalo roamed the North American continent. By the
beginning of the twentieth century fewer than 500 remained. For hundreds of
years, the great buffalo herds had been of pivotal importance to many native
peoples, who developed their cultures, communities, and ways of life around
them. Yet for many settlers and soldiers, the buffalo was little more than
an easy target, thoughtlessly hunted to near extinction.

Since then the buffalo has become a powerful icon in North America. This
book traces the natural history of the North American plains and wood bison,
their origins, life cycle, and folklore about them. It also describes the
successful conservation efforts in the twentieth century and the place of
the buffalo in North America today.

Foxes (World Life Library)

Foxes, members of the wild dog family, have long been associated with
intelligence and cunning, and they are an integral part of folklore.
Worldwide they comprise a group of more than twenty species, all
characterized by grace and adaptability. Because they are closely related to
domestic dogs, they are seemingly familiar, yet their wildness makes them
mysterious.

Foxes is a comprehensive guide to the history, evolution, distribution, and
social structure of foxes worldwide, from the red fox-the most widely
distributed of any wild carnivore-to the Arctic fox-whose range encircles
the North Pole-to Blanford's fox-a desert fox discovered in Israel.

Draft Horses Today
From the Book Jacket:
Draft horses and mules are alive and doing very well. After falling to near
extinction levels in the 1940s they have now grown in numbers and popularity
to become firmly established as a source of power on farms, as an
alternative to heavy machinery in logging operations, and as a part of
equine recreation industry. This book is a celebration of this renewed
interest in draft horses and mules.

Draft Horses Today starts off with a discussion of the various breeds found
in the United States. It then covers the way in which a newcomer might find
a horse, where equipment and machinery can be found, and how to find people
to train draft horses. These topics are treated with common sense and the
first-hand knowledge that comes from the author's own experiences. Newcomers
to the draft horse scene will find these early chapters interesting and
useful.

The remainder of the book consists of photos which illustrate how people
throughout the United States are using their draft horses and mules. Each
photo tells a story, and the photo captions help the reader understand that
story. Taken together the photos and text constitute an overview of the
contemporary draft horse scene.

Draft Horses Today includes approximately 290 color photos, an Appendix
listing the names and addresses of 30 organizations, magazines, and
suppliers which serve the draft horse industry, and an Index which lists
the people and places important in Draft Horses.

Teddy Bears (Household History)
From the Book Jacket:
Can you uncover history in your own
house? Take a closer look at even the
most everyday object right under your
nose, and you'll find a fascinating
story behind it.

In Teddy Bears by Arlene Erlbach, you'll find out how one of the world's
best-known toys came to be. Erlbach takes readers back in time to explore
the very earliest toys and shows how toys evolved from clay figurines to
hobby horses to plush toys. Compared to other toys, teddy bears are
newcomers-they've only been around since the early 1900s. But as Erlbach
explains, these toys have a fascinating place in our country's history and
popular culture-and they're fun to hug too!
