Hi Lori, I can also see the book title and author as links. I was talking about the names of the submitter and proofreader on volunteer produced books. Those no longer appear as links to my Window Eyes, although they do with JAWS according to another poster. Perhaps they will once again appear as links when WE 9 is released. <smile> Evan From: Lori Castner Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2014 6:42 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: A Few Minor Issues with the New Site Evan, I use Window Eyes 8.4. I tried navigating the site with firefox and I can see the book title and author as links. Lori C. When I would go to a volunteer produced book, when I hit the link for the title, below the other book info such as quality, date submitted, copyright date, etc. would be the names of the submitter and proofreader. Both had links on them or were links, or however you say that. When I clicked either of those links, a list of books would come up that they had either submitted or proofed, depending on which name I clicked on. Now, the names are still there, there are just no links on them anymore. Hope that is clearer. As for the searches, I’m using Internet Explorer 11 on a Windows 7 64-bit laptop with Window Eyes 8.4. I’m working on fixing the “my scans in process” link part but it might take a little while. Evan, can you explain where exactly the proofer/scanner names are missing from? Is it from books live in the collection? Is it from the checkout queue? If you could clarify I can look into that. I was not aware that this was changing or had changed so I definitely want to get details! I don’t know if I’ll be at all helpful with the search issues you’re having, but if you could tell me what tools you’re using I might be able to at least ask about it. Just a few minor issues I’ve seen 1. When I go to a volunteer produced book, there are no longer links on the names of the submitter and proofreader; so You can’t click on their names to see what else they’ve done. 2. The My Scans in Process page now takes three clicks to get to where it used to take only two. It used to be on my Volunteer Home page. So I just clicked on Volunteer Home, then My Scans in Process. Now you have to go to Volunteer Home, then Books in Process, then My Scans in Process. 3. When I do an Advanced search, I used to be able to skip directly to the results. At the top of the page was that link that said skip to 1 through such-and-such of so many results, (which has always worked for me in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox by the way, at least not the last time I tried it). You used to be able to just hit that and you’re instantly placed on the first search result. Now I have to hit the h key three times to go to the third header to get to the first result. I tried searching for the word “result”, but that doesn’t put me at the first result, but well above it. I still have to hit the h key three times to get to the first result, which is what I had to do in the first place. As I said, minor issues that I’m sure I’ll get used to, but for me, they’re ways in which I think the old site was superior. And of course, the new site is not set in stone. Minor modifications are sure to occur as more feedback comes in. Evan
