Hi Cindy,
that was one of my points. Even if you think of a book you’ve done that’s in
the collection, I at least using Internet Explorer 11 and Window Eyes 8.4, do
not see the links you used to be able to click on to see what else the
submitter and proofreader have done.
Now that could possibly be a screen reader issue. On the Window Eyes list, I’ve
heard others talking about links on pages that do not appear as links to the
screen reader. This could be an example of that.
The only way to know for sure is to hear from someone with a different screen
reader or who can see the page well enough to use it visually and then see if
the links are there.

It's also available to Volunteers. The My checked out Books is nice: simple and
clear --only it stil doesn't have the Renew link and one of my books expires on
Thursday, 2 on Nov. 2. I got a warning on the 24th that my book is about to
expire, but I can't yet renew any of them. Too bad that wasn't fixed as well.

I also, for fun, checked the Bookshare For Me, and that's a nice clear page for
anyone who might stumble upon the site by accident

I haven't looked for a specific book. Nor have I looked to see what books I've
submitted or proofed. It would sure be nice to see a list without my having to
think of the title of a book I know I've done and then clicking on my name as
"proofed by" Also to know how many cresits I have so I know ow many I can give
away. But I shouldn't be greedy. The only really important thing is to have the
renew link .

Overall, the new site is working well for me. Just a few minor issues I’ve
seen

  1. When I go to a volunteer produced book, there are no longer links on the
names of the submitter and proofreader; so You can’t click on their names to
see what else they’ve done.
  2. The My Scans in Process page now takes three clicks to get to where it
used to take only two. It used to be on my Volunteer Home page. So I just
clicked on Volunteer Home, then My Scans in Process. Now you have to go to
Volunteer Home, then Books in Process, then My Scans in Process.
  3. When I do an Advanced search, I used to be able to skip directly to the
results. At the top of the page was that link that said skip to 1 through
such-and-such of so many results, (which has always worked for me in Internet
Explorer but not in Firefox by the way, at least not the last time I tried it).
You used to be able to just hit that and you’re instantly placed on the first
search result. Now I have to hit the h key three times to go to the third
header to get to the first result. I tried searching for the word “result”, but
that doesn’t put me at the first result, but well above it. I still have to hit
the h key three times to get to the first result, which is what I had to do in
the first place.

As I said, minor issues that I’m sure I’ll get used to, but for me, they’re
ways in which I think the old site was superior. And of course, the new site is
not set in stone. Minor modifications are sure to occur as more feedback comes
in.
