I drove to western NY State on Friday to spend the weekend with my mom. Needless to say that the weather made for poor birding. When I got home this afternoon I went to my neighborhood woods patch and stood in the rain for an hour or so and saw quite a few birds: Great Horned Owl ( he hooted at me to welcome me back) Red-Tailed Hawk White Crowned Sparrow (first I've seen this winter) Towhee, male do White-Throated Sparrow Chipping Sparrow Song " Ruby-Crowned Kinglet C. Chickadee T. Titmouse N. Cardinal Downey & red-bellied Woodpeckers Goldfinch I thought that was a pretty good list for just an hour or so. Joe Swanson Lexington
