The Warsaw winter bird count was held on Saturday December 22. Three observers participated, covering portions of Carroll, Gallatin, and Owen Counties. A below average total of 61 species were found on the day. Highlights included single Ross's Goose and Black-crowned Night Heron, both count firsts. Notable for very low numbers were Eastern Bluebird, American Robin, Cedar Waxwing, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Northern Cardinal. The Ross's Goose was a juvenile bird found at the Ghent power plant.
